PTFE Teflon Tape Making Process

• The raw PTFE powder is sifted through wire mesh sieve. 
• The powder is mixed with a wet lubricant in a blender by mixer machine.
• The lubricated powder is placed in the mould in a hydraulic press and pressed to form a billet by pressing machine.
• The billets are then hydraulically extruded to form the ribbon which is continuously wound. 
• The ribbon is then calendared to flatten into thin sheet by calandar machine.
• The sheet is wound on roller. 
• The rolls are then dried in oven to remove the lubricant by deoiling machine 
• The sheet is stretched and slitted to desired width by slitting machine.
• The tape is finally rewound into small spools by rewinding machine.

Description
Yellow Gas Thread-Seal Tape is a thick, full-density (maximum) density PTFE thread-sealing tape designed spe- cifically for gas lines. Unlike most thread-sealing tapes on the market, Yellow Gas Thread-Seal Tape has not been stretched during the manufacturing process. Stretching low- ers the apparent density of the tape by increasing its porosity. As stretched tape is more porous, more is required to obtain an effective seal. A stretched tape also is flimsy and difficult to work with, and is more likely to shred and string. The amount of tape wasted is high. With ResTape full density tape, these problems are avoided. Yellow Gas Thread-Seal Tape is approved by relevant authorities and is used by the gas industry world-wide. It is color-coded yellow so fitters and inspectors can easily recognize it as an approved tape.

Applications

Yellow Gas Thread-Seal Tape is manufactured from PTFE resin, a polymer consisting of recurring tetrafluoroethyl- ene monomers whose formula is (CF2 - CF2)n by higher quality PTFE Teflon tape machine. One of the most inert substances known it is compatible with a very wide range of materials. ResTape Yellow Gas Thread-Seal Tape can be used on pipe made from galvanized steel, iron, brass, copper, alumi- num, stainless steel, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, CPVC, ABS or fiberglass.
